The return of the BTRDA (British Trials and Rally Drivers Association) Championship to the Yorkshire event, after an absence of around a quarter of a century, resulted in an influx of an extra 66 cars and crews. Hamsterley's Stephen Petch was able to celebrate the biggest win of his career, driving a Ford Focus WRC to a 35.8 second victory over the similar vehicle driven by Ripon dairy owner Charlie Payne.
